ESEA Members Participate In EMA Day On The Hill

Following our recent Day on the Hill meetings in Washington, D.C., ESEA members had productive conversations with members of Congress and congressional staff on several key issues impacting New York’s energy and fuel marketers. Our delegation emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced energy policy that protects affordability, reliability, and consumer choice for families and businesses across the state.

Members advocated for continued support of liquid fuels and renewable biofuels as essential components of the nation’s energy mix, while also highlighting the critical role our industry plays in maintaining fuel supply, supporting local jobs, and ensuring energy resilience during emergencies and severe weather events.

Among the issues discussed were support for the Credit Card Competition Act, the reauthorization of NORA, preserving consumer energy choice, addressing burdensome regulations impacting heating fuel providers, and maintaining incentives that encourage the growth of renewable liquid fuels. Members also shared concerns regarding rising operational costs, infrastructure challenges, and policies that could negatively impact energy affordability for consumers.

The meetings reinforced the importance of continued grassroots engagement and relationship-building with federal lawmakers. Hearing directly from local business owners and energy professionals helps policymakers better understand the real-world impacts federal decisions have on consumers, employees, and communities throughout New York.

ESEA was proud to have strong participation from member companies that serve the New York market, including Buckeye Energy Services, Consumer Focus, Global Companies, John Ray & Sons, Long Energy, Main Care Energy, Mirabito Energy Products, Panco Petroleum, PDI Technologies, Reinhardt Corp., Scott Smith & Son, Sprague, Upstate Energy, and Wever Petroleum. It was especially meaningful to see members bring their young children to participate in the experience, highlighting the multi-generational nature of our industry and the importance of advocating for its future.

During our time in Washington, we also held a Northeast industry dinner alongside our state and regional association partners, including CEMA, FMANJ, MEMA, NECSEMA, PPA, and VFDA. The evening brought together industry leaders and member companies from across the region to network, strengthen relationships, share ideas, and enjoy time together while discussing the issues impacting our industry throughout the Northeast.

We were also pleased to be joined by our friends and colleagues from EMA, Federated Insurance, NORA, PMI, Reynolds, and Altria, whose continued support of our industry is greatly appreciated. The dinner highlighted the strong sense of partnership and camaraderie that exists throughout our industry.

We appreciate all members who participated and helped represent the industry professionally and effectively during this year’s advocacy efforts.
